Rep. Payne, Jr., Introduces Promise Neighborhoods Bill!
Some good news!
Rep. Donald Payne, Jr. (D-NJ) has introduced the Promise Neighborhoods Act, H.R. 2195, which would permanently fund Promise Neighborhoods.
Rep. Payne, Jr., is the son of the late Rep. Donald Payne, Sr., who introduced similar legislation in 2011 as a companion bill to Sen. Tom Harkin’s legislation to embed Promise Neighborhoods in the Elementary and Secondary Education Act. Rep. Payne, Jr., honors his father’s legacy as well as the exceptional work you are all doing every day to improve outcomes for poor children and families throughout the nation.
We are thrilled with the early support for this bill, which has 27 co-sponsors (see full list below).
A tweet is all it takes to help us thank Rep. Payne, Jr., for his leadership. His vision of a permanent Promise Neighborhoods program is exactly what we need to ensure that communities everywhere have the resources to help children learn, grow, and succeed. It’s how we’ll achieve a more equitable society.
