242 Applications Submitted for $60 Million!
Above: Northside Achievement Zone in Minneapolis, MN, won an implementation grant last year. Part of the $60 million allocated for FY 2012 will go to funding the multi-year grants of Northside and four other implementation sites.

The deadline for the FY 2012 Promise Neighborhoods grants was this past Friday, and there was a huge show of interest from across the country.

A total of 242 applications were submitted–60 implementation grant applications, and 182 planning grant applications.

These numbers represent the passion to improve educational outcomes for children and lift communities out of poverty, and a deep commitment to the Promise Neighborhoods model, which is based on the principles of the Harlem Children’s Zone.
